Steve Phillip
Founder of The Jordan Legacy CIC
"Without doubt, one of the single most important films to have come out, tackling, head on, the often taboo subject of young suicide".
"Each year in the UK, we lose more than 200 school children to suicide and approximately 100 university students. According to UK Government data, 10% of all suspected monthly suicides between August 2023 - October 2024, relate to the 10-24 age group.
Pressures to succeed academically, challenging circumstances at home, expectations to conform to certain societal norms and a digital world bombarding their senses every second of every day, young people are often resorting to unhealthy habits to help them cope with life - increasingly, these coping mechanisms include self-harm and in the worst of cases, suicide.
The Jordan Legacy is honoured to have been invited to become an ambassador for the film, "'The Low Road". Our mission is to move towards a 'Zero Suicide Society', which by The Jordan Legacy's definition is one that is willing and able to prevent all preventable suicides.
Research tells us that most suicides are preventable, surely then, as a society, in our education centres and wider communities, we should do everything possible to prevent any more young lives being lost to suicide?

As an ambassador for The Low Road, The Jordan Legacy will be making it our mission to ensure that all our stakeholders, including those in education, the NHS, the Emergency Services and our charity connections, include this powerful film in their internal and external training and communication initiatives, particularly those which relate to safeguarding young people."
